PURPOSES
Old landfills, polluted industrial areas and sites where accidents occurred bear witness to uncontrolled handling of wastes in the past. Waste disposal and treatment were dealt with as cheaply as possible. At the time, however, environmentally-friendly waste disposal was not always possible. For example, combustible hazardous wastes were dumped into worked-out gravel pits, or toxic production residues were discharged onto unsealed ground within plant compounds.

WHAT WE DID
Service provided included: Sampling, laboratory soil analyses and ultimately soil substitution.
This involved removing the contaminated soil and replacing it with clean soil. The contaminated soil was excavated and taken to a treatment facility or landfill, while the clean soil was brought in to replace it.
Soil substitution can be an effective method of dealing with contaminated soil, but it can also be expensive and disruptive to the surrounding area.
