Dewatering of the Island construction site (UAE)

PURPOSES

The internal dewatering of the Island construction site, required to enable a dry excavation, has encountered issues related to the amount of water to dewater, which continued for longer than anticipated, and at higher rates.

In August 2020 a first review demonstrated that various factors have led to very significant increase in dewatering volume during execution of the works compared to those that were expected and had been budgeted for at the time of the tender.

WHAT WE DID

We enabled realistic and dependable assessment of dewatering needs (pumping rates volumes) to model and cross-compared various scenarios using a working 3D hydrogeological numerical model approach and proposed an indicative well field design.
