BRUNEI BEACH WELL SYSTEMS

PURPOSES

Beach wells are usually located on the seashore in close vicinity to the ocean. These intake facilities are relatively simple to build and the seawater they collect is pretreated via slow filtration through the subsurface sand/seabed formations in the area of source water extraction. Within this context, the project aimed to:

  1. To simulate two (2) beach well layouts.
  2. Determine which simulated layout would be able to provide mostly 350 m3/hr with an acceptable drawdown of maximum – 4 meters.

Dewatering of “Stazione di pompaggio-ARM” (TI, CH)

PURPOSES

Estimation of dewatering rates of the construction site that requires dry conditions.

WHAT WE DID

We enabled realistic and dependable assessment of dewatering needs (pumping rates volumes) to model and cross-compared various scenarios using a working 3D hydrogeological numerical model approach.

Open loop geothermal system, Cadempino, TI

PURPOSES

To  implement a 3D numerical hydro-geothermal model for the study of the evolution of temperature in the aquifer and potential thermal perturbation. Dual use; warming and cooling with applied dT = 4°C.

We elaborated a 3D Numerical modeling to identify the potential temperature anomalies and interferences; the thermal affected zone (TAZ).

PAC Parrocchia di Giubiasco (TI, CH), 2022

Open loop geothermal system, Giubiasco, TI

PURPOSES

To design and implement a geothermal open-loop systems. Groundwater heat pump (GWHP) systems have gained attention for space heating and cooling due to its efficiency and low installation costs. Such application as ground source heat pump (GSHP) system can be classified into closed- and open-loop.

WHAT WE DID

Service provided included: analyses, assessment, drilling, pumping and recharge testing and numerical simulation.

We proceeded with the initial assessment to evaluate the flow capacity of the aquifer to provide the requested rates, the thermal effects around the injection wells, and we elaborated a 3D Numerical modeling to identify the potential temperature anomalies and interferences; the thermal affected zone (TAZ).

The Island (UAE), Besix, 2020

Dewatering of the Island construction site (UAE)

PURPOSES

The internal dewatering of the Island construction site, required to enable a dry excavation, has encountered issues related to the amount of water to dewater, which continued for longer than anticipated, and at higher rates.

In August 2020 a first review demonstrated that various factors have led to very significant increase in dewatering volume during execution of the works compared to those that were expected and had been budgeted for at the time of the tender.
